ALISTER HUME

Bsc (Hons) Geography

Post Graduate Diploma in Town Planning

MRTPI Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute

Alister Hume has over 30 years experience in the town planning profession. His career started in Local Government with the Planning Department of Thanet District Council in East Kent. He then worked for Chapman Warren (now part of the RPS group), a private planning consultancy, working nationally with a range of blue-chip clients. During this time, he gained invaluable experience in an organisation with a very positive culture of trying to “make things happen”.

He was then appointed as the Strategic Land Manager of Hillreed Homes who, at this time, were the largest privately-owned housebuilder in Kent. Hillreed was later acquired by the Persimmon Group in 2012 with the benefit of extensive strategic landholding, which Alister was instrumental in delivering. This appointment allowed Alister a crucial understanding of the wider factors which affect the practical delivery of development including scheme viability and the important relationship between landowners and promoters/housebuilders.

In 2015, Hume Planning Consultancy moved to Sandwich in Kent with a focus on providing sound, independent commercial planning advice to assist with the delivery of development projects, specialising in project management of the development team for landowners and clients.
